Tracy Wong is a designer fascinated by the intersections of everyday life, social challenges, and creative expression. She explores how visual and spatial design can transform ordinary actions into meaningful experiences that connect people and communities.
From participatory exhibitions to placemaking projects, Tracy creates opportunities for collaboration, play, and co-creation, rather than prescribing fixed solutions. Her work bridges social innovation, research, and experimental design, using design as a tool for collective change. By translating complex ideas into engaging, tangible experiences, she helps communities discover new ways to interact, reflect, and shape their shared environment.

35 CITY CIRCLE TRAM
Typeface Design |City Experiment, 2024
This project aims to experiment with the 35 City Circle tram in Melbourne to explore the relationship between sound and the city. The design involves recording soundtracks at each tram station, capturing brief moments of the journey, including conversations, bell rings, announcements, and the sounds of the rail tracks. By translating these auditory experiences into visual graphics, the design created both digital and hand-drawn sound wave representations based on my impressions of the recordings. Utilising various visual elements—dots, lines, and planes—the graphics convey the atmospheric qualities of the sounds and serve as the foundation for developing a new typeface.
