Tracy Wong is a designer fascinated by the intersections of everyday life, social challenges, and creative expression. She explores how visual and spatial design can transform ordinary actions into meaningful experiences that connect people and communities.
From participatory exhibitions to placemaking projects, Tracy creates opportunities for collaboration, play, and co-creation, rather than prescribing fixed solutions. Her work bridges social innovation, research, and experimental design, using design as a tool for collective change. By translating complex ideas into engaging, tangible experiences, she helps communities discover new ways to interact, reflect, and shape their shared environment.

*THE YARRA RIVER IS TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING...*
Social Experiment | 2024
Through research into the social and political dynamics of the Yarra River, the engagement in the Birrarung RiverFest 2024 gathered valuable community insights about their experiences and aspirations for the river's future.
This project proposes to begin by focusing communication efforts on businesses and organisations located directly along the river. Using a letter written from the perspective of the Yarra River itself, addressed to the leaders of these stakeholders, the initiative aims to give the river a voice. The letter will emphasise the symbiotic relationship between these entities and the river, highlighting that their prosperity is interconnected and urging them to foster a healthier, mutually beneficial connection. This stage seeks to build and strengthen partnerships.
The second stage will involve uniting the community to collectively engage with local councils and the broader Melbourne population. The goal is to inspire a sense of stewardship, not only among individuals but, crucially, within decision-making institutions, driving tangible and sustained progress for the river's well-being.
